    Description

The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) awards the Linda H. Peterson Fellowship to give one scholar time to pursue research on the British newspaper and periodical press of the long nineteenth century, approximately 1780–1914. Projects may examine any aspect or form of this press, within Britain or in countries inside and outside the Empire where British magazines and newspapers were bought, sold, and read.

The fellowship supports the equivalent of four full-time months. Research, writing, and other scholarly activities may be undertaken, but the project must include substantial engagement with nineteenth-century primary sources in print, manuscript, or digital facsimile. Funded through Eileen Curran’s bequest, the fellowship honors Linda Peterson, a Yale professor, pioneering periodical-studies scholar, and former RSVP vice president.
