Description

The Royal Society’s Lisa Jardine Grant Scheme supports early career scholars using history of science collections to advance intellectual history and related interdisciplinary research. Named in memory of Professor Lisa Jardine CBE FRS, it funds archival research visits, exploratory travel, and relevant conferences, training and networking opportunities. The scheme encourages movement across disciplines and countries, bringing science into intellectual history and encouraging scientists to examine their disciplines’ origins and historical data.

Supported subjects include intellectual history, cultural history, history and philosophy of science, history of art, and historical geography. The scheme places particular emphasis on Early Modern science and European networks, with special consideration for seventeenth-century topics. Applications are judged on their academic content, while applicants are encouraged to consider how their work advances the Royal Society’s strategic objectives.
