Description
Literary Arts Project Grants are part of South Arts’ Literary Arts Initiative, supporting the development, production, and public engagement of contemporary literary work. The program funds poetry, fiction, creative or literary nonfiction, young readers’ literature, and drama through scriptwriting. Projects must demonstrate artistic excellence, editorial rigor, and meaningful public or community impact while amplifying the literary traditions and artistic practices of the American South.
Support covers publishing in print, digital, or audio formats and activities connecting audiences with literature. Projects may include journals, books, anthologies, reading series, festivals, podcasts, and virtual programming. Priorities include strong artistic vision, thoughtful editorial or curatorial selection, innovation, collaboration, fair compensation, accessibility, and clear marketing and distribution strategies.
