Description
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s REAP Recycling section administers the Litter Control Grant Program. It helps local governments initiate, continue, or expand litter control programs, connecting community cleanup with enforcement of state anti-litter laws. Funding comes from fines for violations of those laws, and the program operates under State Rule 33CSR41.
Approved work may include cleanup campaigns, public education, enforcement, surveys of local litter problems, and equipment that serves program objectives. The program also permits research or development of local solid waste recycling programs. Local governments may carry out a program alone or cooperatively.
