Description
The Live Like Bella Pediatric Cancer Research Initiative is administered by the Florida Department of Health’s Biomedical Research Section. Established under section 381.922, Florida Statutes, it awards competitive, peer-reviewed grants to advance cures for pediatric cancer. Its goals include expanding pediatric cancer research capacity in Florida, increasing pediatric enrollment in clinical trials networks, and reducing the burden of pediatric cancer, including on disproportionately impacted individuals.
Supported work spans discovery science, clinical trials, emerging therapeutics and technologies, new investigator research, equipment, and bridge support. Projects must demonstrate a close relationship to progress toward cures or substantial improvements in cancer morbidity and mortality. Research priorities include improved screening and detection, treatment resistance in recurrent disease, sarcomas and blood cancers, obesity and treatment responsiveness, treatment-related morbidities, and alignment with the Florida Cancer Plan.
