The London Mathematical Society (LMS) supports innovative scholarship projects undertaken by colleagues building a teaching and scholarship profile in higher education mathematics and its applications. The scheme advances the Society’s “Pathways in Mathematics” strategic goal: promoting mathematics and opportunities to study and develop a career in mathematics and its applications. Projects take place within a single UK university and address teaching quality, student learning, curriculum design or delivery, the student experience, or student success.
Funded work should produce tangible, lasting benefits for students, extending beyond one academic year to future cohorts. Evaluation is central to the scheme, and the ideas and approaches developed should be readily transferable to other higher education institutions. Projects should also be environmentally sustainable.
