Local Conservation Grant Program supports Vermont communities by funding conservation of locally important land, natural areas, and historic buildings for public use and lasting benefit to Vermonters.

Description
The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board’s Local Conservation Grant Program supports places that matter to individual Vermont communities but may not be competitive with statewide conservation projects. It funds conservation of agricultural and recreational land, town parks and forests, swimming holes, greenways, natural areas, and historic buildings for public use.
The program supports land acquisition and conservation, as well as conservation and restoration of historic properties. Funding can help cover the practical costs of completing a project, including appraisals, options, and closing costs. Projects must provide lasting benefits to Vermonters, secured through deed restrictions or other mechanisms that ensure the investment has a long-term effect.
