Local Conservation Grant Program supports Vermont communities in conserving locally important land and historic properties for public use and lasting benefit to Vermonters.

Funding Amounts: Up to $150,000 plus associated costs for recreational lands and natural areas; up to $215,000 for farmland; historic properties generally up to $100,000 plus associated costs

Description
The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board’s Local Conservation Grant Program supports places that matter to a community but may not be competitive as statewide conservation projects. Eligible work includes conserving agricultural and recreational land, natural areas, town parks and forests, swimming holes, greenways, and historic buildings for public use.
Funding can help purchase recreational lands and natural areas, conserve locally important farmland, or conserve and restore historic properties. Projects must provide a lasting benefit to Vermonters, protected through deed restrictions or other mechanisms. VHCB may fund acquisition and associated project costs, including appraisals, options, and closing costs.
