Description
The Local Government Snowmobile Program provides financial assistance to Illinois local governments for the acquisition, development, maintenance, and improvement of public snowmobile trails, trail corridors, and supporting facilities. Funded by snowmobile registration fees, the program aims to enhance public access to safe, well-maintained snowmobile routes and related infrastructure across Illinois. Eligible projects include land acquisition, trail construction, grooming equipment purchase, signage, parking, lighting, restrooms, warming shelters, and patrol equipment, provided they are open and available for public snowmobile use.
