Description
CalRecycle’s Local Government Waste Tire Enforcement (TEA) Grant Program provides stable, non-competitive funding to California cities, counties, and combined city-and-county jurisdictions. Supported by the California Tire Recycling Management Fund under the Tire Recycling Act and related legislation, it funds local enforcement of waste tire permitting, hauling, and storage laws.
Inspections are the program’s core activity. Funding also supports surveillance, field patrolling, investigations of illegal disposal and hauling, enforcement case development, training, and education for waste tire businesses. Jurisdictions may apply individually or collaboratively, with a lead jurisdiction conducting enforcement for participating jurisdictions. Grantees enforce waste tire laws under CalRecycle’s authority, rather than their own local enforcement authority.
