Description
The Local Legal Support Initiative is a partnership between Colorado’s Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), the Governor’s Office of Federal Funds and Strategic Initiatives, and Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG). It provides free legal assistance on federal funding issues to eligible Colorado local governments, federally recognized Tribes, special districts, and nonprofits. The goal is to safeguard critical local investments by keeping awarded funds deployable, compliant, and protected.
Support covers federal contract changes, potential clawbacks or terminations, evolving federal regulations and guidance, and grant management and procurement issues. Legal expertise is also available for appeals, extensions, and corrective actions concerning federal agency decisions. The initiative has a special focus on small and/or rural entities, while urban entities are also eligible.
