Description
The California Transportation Commission runs the Local Partnership Competitive Program under Senate Bill 1. It funds transportation improvements proposed by local or regional transportation agencies that generate revenue dedicated solely to transportation improvements. The program is one part of the broader Local Partnership Program, alongside a formulaic program; competitive funding cycles are programmed every two years.
Eligible work spans state highways and local roads, transit facilities and vehicles, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, transportation technology, environmental mitigation, sound walls, and other transportation improvements. The Commission aims to direct increased revenue toward California’s highest transportation needs while distributing the economic impact of that funding fairly. It encourages projects aligned with state climate and equity goals.
