Description
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) operates this program in partnership with local governments to repair road infrastructure impacted by increased truck traffic from oil and gas production. It addresses gaps in Road Use and Maintenance Agreements (RUMAs), which oil and gas companies must enter into with affected governmental entities before the Ohio Department of Natural Resources can issue drilling permits.
The RUMA requirement does not extend to state routes passing through small rural villages or municipalities, or to local roads impacted by truck traffic associated with injection wells. The program supports repairs outside those agreements on village, municipal, county and township roads in designated Ohio counties. Its project portfolio includes asphalt pavement rehabilitation, full-depth repairs, slip repair and intersection improvements.
