Description
The Local Share Account (LSA) – Luzerne County program supports projects in the public interest that improve residents’ quality of life. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) administers the program under guidelines established by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). Eligible uses are broadly defined around community benefit rather than particular research disciplines.
Established under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, the Local Share Account distributes 2% of gross terminal revenues from certain licensed gaming facilities. Its goals are to support and enhance community and economic well-being and mitigate the impacts of gaming and related activities. The CFA evaluates proposed projects for eligibility and considers their cost, strategic importance, and impact.
