Description
The Local Share Account (LSA) – Monroe County program supports projects that enhance community and economic well-being and mitigate the impacts of gaming and related activities. Established under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), the Local Share Account distributes 2% of gross terminal revenues from certain licensed gaming facilities through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) administers the application process.
The program serves Monroe, Carbon, Lackawanna, Northampton, Pike, and Wayne counties. Eligible work includes economic and community development, public interest projects that improve quality of life, and economic development projects that promote local activity and create or retain jobs. Roadway improvements have a narrower geographic scope: they must be in Monroe County within twenty miles of the gaming facility.
