Key Information: The meeting must take place within two years of the appointment’s start date, excluding parental leave.
The London Mathematical Society (LMS) provides partial support for inaugural mathematical meetings celebrating the appointment of a new lecturer at a UK university. Meetings must take place in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. The scheme aims to strengthen the research network around the new lecturer and give research students and other mathematicians an opportunity to spend a day focusing on the lecturer’s research area.
Supported meetings combine research talks with a departmental social event. They must include at least three talks, including one by the applicant. Joint meetings celebrating more than one new appointment may also receive support. The Society expects meetings to be open to all and requires compliance with its policy on Women in Mathematics.
