Key Information: PhD students cannot apply; non-LMS members need an LMS member to counter-sign their application.
The London Mathematical Society’s Scheme 1 provides partial support for mathematical conferences and research workshops held in the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. It funds mathematical meetings and the mathematical components of wider meetings, but excludes mathematics education. Research workshops bring small groups of active researchers together for concentrated work on a specialised topic, with priority given to new research initiatives rather than established meeting series.
The scheme supports participation by principal speakers or workshop participants, UK-based research students and participants from Scheme 5 countries. Postdoctoral and graduate student participation is encouraged. Organisers must include women speakers or workshop participants and comply with the Society’s Women in Mathematics policy. Support can also contribute to hybrid meeting costs and caring costs, including for remote attendees.
