    Description

The London Mathematical Society (LMS) offers Early Career Fellowships to mathematicians who have recently received, or will shortly receive, their PhD. The scheme provides a period devoted primarily to mathematical study and research during the transition to a postdoctoral position. It is partially supported by the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research through the UKRI/EPSRC Additional Funding Programme for Mathematical Sciences.

A central goal is to establish research links and expand collaborations outside the fellow’s PhD institution. Fellowships may be held at one or more institutions, with these links developed through relocation or in-person collaborative visits. The scheme supports research capacity and career development rather than project funding alone. Proposed research need not be completed during the fellowship, but applicants should explain the progress they expect to make.
