The London Mathematical Society’s Scheme 8 provides partial support for conferences organised by and for postgraduate research students. Meetings must take place in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands and bring together students from several universities. The scheme supports mathematical meetings, or the mathematical component of wider meetings, but excludes mathematics education.
Funding contributes to participants’ travel, accommodation and subsistence, and can cover caring costs for attendees with dependents. The Society expects supported meetings to be open to all and to comply with its policy on Women in Mathematics, including appropriate gender balance among speakers. The programme is administered through the Early Career Research Committee and aims to support conferences that benefit UK mathematics.
