    Description

The London Mathematical Society (LMS) supports annual undergraduate summer schools at UK universities, introducing enthusiastic students to modern mathematics and mathematical research and encouraging them to consider an academic career in mathematics. Held since 2015, the schools combine short lecture courses, problem-solving sessions and colloquium-style talks from leading mathematicians. They are intended principally for students entering their final undergraduate year the following autumn.

The LMS Early Career Research Committee oversees the programme and funding, while the host develops the scientific programme and manages the event locally. Schools normally run for two weeks in July, with some flexibility in style and duration available for discussion with the LMS. The programme seeks an inclusive, cooperative atmosphere and particularly encourages women’s participation, addressing their underrepresentation in postgraduate study.
