Key Information: PhD students cannot apply; non-LMS members require an LMS member to countersign their application.
The London Mathematical Society’s Scheme 2 provides partial financial support for visiting speakers who will lecture at at least three separate institutions in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. It supports mathematical activities, or the mathematical component of wider activities, but excludes mathematics education. The academic case should explain how the visit will benefit UK mathematics.
The scheme contributes to international and domestic travel, accommodation and subsistence, with additional support available for visitors with dependents. Its focus is a multi-institution visit rather than a single destination. Alongside lectures, visits can create opportunities for research discussions, new collaborations and joint research projects. Applicants arrange the visit and are expected to seek funding from host institutions for the remaining costs.
