The American Revolution Institute of the Society of the Cincinnati’s Long-Term Research Fellowship supports academic and independent scholars pursuing ambitious research on significant topics related to the American Revolution. Projects should lead to a substantial scholarly or public-history outcome, such as a book, major article, documentary edition, exhibition, or digital resource. The fellowship facilitates concentrated research in residence using the Institute’s collections, while supporting work elsewhere when integral to the project.
The Institute particularly welcomes new sources, methods, and forms of interpretation. Interests include relationships among historical events, people, objects, places, landscapes, environments, routes, borders, and movement. Projects may employ cartography, historical geography, geographic information systems, GPS-based field research, spatial data, digital mapping, data visualization, or other interdisciplinary methods.
