Description
The Wildlife Conservation Board administers the Lower American River Conservancy Program to support the American River Parkway and related lands. Created in 2017, the program brings a state partner into work with local public agencies and nonprofits to restore, enhance, interpret, and protect the Parkway’s natural, recreational, educational, and cultural resources while improving public access.
Supported work can include habitat and natural-resource projects, trails and other recreational facilities, interpretive facilities, invasive-species control, and stormwater projects that improve water quality and wildlife habitat. The Board prioritizes a natural resource management plan for the Parkway, improved access, and protection and restoration. An advisory committee reviews eligible projects and recommends funding.
