LSRF Fellowship Competition supports early-career postdoctoral researchers with mentored training and basic biological research across the life sciences to pursue innovative research approaches.
Funder: Life Sciences Research Foundation
Due Dates (Anticipated): October 2027 (Application) | November 2027 (Supervisor and reference letters)
Funding Amounts: $255,000 over three years ($85,000 annually, including a $6,000 research allowance)
Summary: Supports mentored postdoctoral training and innovative basic biological research across all areas of life science.
Key Information: Finalist selection does not guarantee funding; awards depend on individual sponsorship secured by LSRF.
The Life Sciences Research Foundation (LSRF) supports named postdoctoral researchers conducting basic biological research in a supervisor’s laboratory at a nonprofit university or research institution. The fellowship funds research and training within the supervisor’s broader research program, with attention to the applicant’s role and independence. LSRF seeks creative, early-career postdocs pursuing innovative research approaches.
Research may span all areas of life science, including biochemistry, cancer biology, cell biology, computational biology, developmental biology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, neurobiology, organismal population and evolutionary biology, physiology, plant biology, structural biology, and virology. A Peer Review Committee selects finalists, after which LSRF approaches existing and potential sponsors. The foundation has no endowment or standing pool of funds; sponsors choose which finalists to support.
