Summary: Supports postgraduate students and early career researchers presenting clay mineral research at prominent international conferences.
Key Information: Candidates must have received an Ordinary CMG Bursary during the relevant March-to-March year.
The Mackenzie-MacEwan Award is conferred annually by the Clay Minerals Group (CMG) of the Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland. It supports an oral presentation of clay mineral research, broadly defined (sensu lato), at a prominent international conference rather than a separate research project. Conference examples include the International Clay Conference, AIPEA, Clay 2027, Euroclay and the Mid European Clay Conference.
The award provides additional support to a postgraduate student or early career researcher who has received an Ordinary CMG Bursary. It connects international conference participation with the CMG research community: the recipient is also expected to present their research orally at the following CMG Annual Research in Progress meeting, where the award is presented.
