Due Dates (Anticipated): August 2027 (Letter of Intent) | September 2027 (Proposal)
Funding Amounts: Up to $7,500 in NASA funds per project, with 1:1 cost share; projects up to one year
Summary: Supports development and revision of STEM curricula that integrate NASA-related education and research and prepare students for STEM careers.
Key Information: New course or curriculum proposals require Chief Academic Officer approval addressing long-term sustainability.
The Maine Space Grant Consortium (MSGC) supports higher education affiliates in improving STEM curricula through new courses, course revisions, and interdisciplinary realignment. The competitive program aims to integrate NASA-related education and research, preferably connecting students with careers associated with NASA and Maine’s growing space economy. Projects may also pilot synchronous or asynchronous delivery of modified STEM curricula.
Supported activities include pre-college and preservice education courses, experiences preparing students for STEM careers, faculty professional development related to curriculum improvement, course releases for short periods at NASA centers, and travel to NASA field centers. A new development element supports subject matter experts in developing and teaching a three-credit university-level course aligned with NASA’s mission and strategic technology areas, bringing aerospace, engineering, science, and technology expertise into college classrooms.
