Description
The Idaho Humanities Council’s Major Grants support planning and delivering public programs that draw on history, culture, literature, and other humanities disciplines to spark public conversation. The council’s current target audience is the out-of-school adult public. Projects should demonstrate or promote greater awareness of the humanities in Idaho through formats such as exhibits, local history projects, discussion programs, and lectures.
The program seeks to explore human experience, support Idaho’s cultural organizations across the state, and connect Idahoans through varied topics. Supported work emphasizes interpretation, critical thinking, and dialogue between humanities scholars and audiences. Other possible formats include media and digital projects, publications, conferences, festivals, preservation and access projects, and educational projects.
