Description
Virginia Humanities awards Major Grants to develop and deliver public-facing humanities projects with broad scope and sustained impact. The program aims to foster dialogue, interpret cultural resources, and expand access to history, literature, and culture. Grants are awarded twice a year, alternating with Opportunity Grant cycles.
Projects may include community discussions, oral histories, exhibitions, public conferences, interpretive performances, teacher institutes, K–12 curriculum resources, publications, and media projects. Planning and research are eligible when they lead to public programming. Arts-related projects must interpret the arts or support humanities-focused engagement rather than primarily produce artwork.
