The Society for Music Theory’s Many Voices Travel Grant reduces barriers to participation in its Annual Meeting. It supports scholars whose engagement helps broaden the range of voices, viewpoints, and experiences represented in the musical community, with preference given to students. The program reflects the Society’s commitment to fostering the many voices of present and future members.
The Society understands music theory broadly, encompassing conceptual and practical approaches and the perspectives of scholars, listeners, composers, performers, teachers, and students. Alongside its Accessibility, International, IUU, and Family Care Grants, this grant helps offset expenses associated with Annual Meeting attendance, including travel, lodging, and registration. It is made possible in part by donations to the SMT-Forward campaign.
