Description
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) administers the Maritime Assistance Program for eligible Ohio port authorities. It supports planning, design, acquisition, and infrastructure projects that increase the efficiency or capacity of maritime cargo terminal operations. An active marine cargo terminal is a marine-based facility that handles, stores, and transfers cargo as part of a transportation process.
Eligible work includes terminal land acquisition and site development; harbor structures and dredging-related improvements; construction or repair of terminal facilities; cargo-handling equipment; and services associated with construction. Created by the 133rd Ohio General Assembly through House Bill 166, the program is subject to funding appropriated in each subsequent biennial budget.
