--- ## Description This award honors early-career archivists who have demonstrated broad merit in archival work, significant leadership potential, and/or commendable service to the archives profession. The recognition is based on the nominee’s overall experience, including their knowledge, leadership, participation, and achievements in archival work. The award celebrates individuals whose contributions extend beyond their local institution and show promise for future impact, as well as those who have engaged in collaborative work, exemplary service, and successful outreach or advocacy. Established in 2011 and renamed in 2017 to honor SAA Fellow and Past President Mark A. Greene, the award highlights his commitment to mentoring emerging leaders in the archival field. --- ## Due Dates - February 2027 (Nomination submission deadline, anticipated/projected) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - The recipient receives a certificate; there is no monetary award associated with this recognition. --- ## Eligibility - Nominees must be members of the Society of American Archivists (SAA). - Nominees must have more than two years and less than ten years of professional archives experience. - Nominees should meet as many of the following criteria as possible: - Completed archival work of substantive merit that has contributed to the profession beyond their local institution and holds promise for future contributions. - Demonstrated leadership through collaborative work or exemplary service to local, regional, and/or national archival and cultural associations. - Involvement in successful outreach and advocacy efforts on behalf of their institution and the archives profession. --- ## Application Process - Nominations must include: - The nominee’s résumé. - Two letters of support from colleagues familiar with the nominee’s work and professional activities. - Nominations are submitted online via the [nomination portal](https://app.smarterselect.com/programs/45673-Society-Of-American-Archivists). - Only complete nominations submitted by the deadline will be considered. --- ## Additional Information - The award is administered by the Mark A.
