Description
The Martineau Care Fund is run by Suffolk Community Foundation to support people facing illness or disabilities in Suffolk who cannot afford essential equipment or practical assistance themselves. It funds daily living equipment that supports independence and wellbeing, including mobility aids, specialised equipment, accessible computer software, domestic appliances needed because of illness or disability, and protective bedding or special mattresses. Respite care may be supported in exceptional circumstances.
The fund also considers hardship costs arising directly from illness or disability, such as condition-related heating costs, clothing needed after illness or surgery, and travel for hospital appointments or visits. This support is distributed through partner organisations, with a registered health professional applying and providing evidence of the costs.
