The Mary Elizabeth Courier Research Scholarship provides dedicated support for research into gynaecological cancer or high-risk pre-cancerous lesions. Administered by the RANZCOG Women’s Health Foundation, it supports medical graduates undertaking research in a hospital, university department or research institute in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand. Both cancer and high-risk pre-cancerous lesions fall within its defined scope.
The scholarship was established in 2008 through a bequest from Auguste John Courier in memory of his late wife. It forms part of the Foundation’s research funding program, which supports high-quality, innovative work in women’s health and researchers progressing their careers. Assessment considers the applicant, the research project, supervisory support, feasibility and potential contribution to women’s health.
