The Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Urban Agriculture Water & Power Infrastructure Grant helps urban farms and community gardens obtain the water and electricity needed to sustain their operations. Approved by the Maryland General Assembly in 2022, the program funds practical infrastructure improvements at eligible agricultural sites in Maryland’s designated urban areas and incorporated municipalities.
Supported expenses include water meters, water pipes, irrigation hoses, electric meters, electrical lines, and other equipment authorized by the department. Projects can include public utility work involving roads, sidewalks, water mains, and transformers, as well as private contractors’ on-site installation services. Funding supports both equipment purchases and installation.
