Funding Amounts: ~€5,000,000 per project | 2 grants expected | Lump sum funding
Summary: Funds innovative modular construction solutions to sustainably renovate Europe’s built environment, emphasizing technology, adaptability, and New European Bauhaus (NEB) values.
Key Information: Project demonstrations must cover at least three EU/Associated countries and three application areas; SSH integration required.
This grant, under the Horizon Europe programme, supports the development and demonstration of innovative solutions for the mass customisation of offsite manufactured modular construction components, aiming to transform the existing built environment in line with New European Bauhaus (NEB) values. Projects should leverage technologies such as distributed manufacturing, building information modelling (BIM), and modular construction approaches to create adaptable, efficient, and locally relevant renovation solutions. Demonstrations are required in at least three EU Member States or Associated Countries and must cover at least three application areas (e.g., residential, commercial, public space, cultural heritage, education, recreation).
Proposals must evaluate the economic, aesthetic, environmental, social, and cultural value of their solutions and develop strategies for scalability and adaptation to various local contexts, considering long-term performance, durability, and repairability. A participatory, transdisciplinary approach involving social sciences and humanities (SSH) is required, with dedicated resources for sharing results and contributing to impact assessment through the NEB hub.
