Description
The Maternal and Child Health Title V Block Grant is administered in South Dakota by the Department of Health’s Office of Lifespan Health. It supports services, partnerships, and public health systems for women, infants, children, adolescents, and children and youth with special health care needs. The department uses a statewide needs assessment every five years to guide its priorities, drawing on data and input from families, communities, and partners.
For fiscal years 2026–2030, South Dakota’s priorities are postpartum visits, infant safe sleep, child food sufficiency, medical homes for children and youth with special health care needs, and adolescent well-visits. The program’s goal is to focus state and local maternal and child health work on needs identified across South Dakota.
