Description
This upcoming CDC opportunity will fund projects that integrate maternal-child health surveillance with national partnership activities to address major public health challenges such as alcohol use during pregnancy, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs), neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), and cytomegalovirus (CMV). The program aims to enhance clinical surveillance systems for pregnant women, infants, and children, prioritize data quality, and promote timely reporting and dissemination of outcome data.
Three distinct components are available:
- Component A: For entities with the authority to conduct clinic-based surveillance using multiple data sources.
- Component B: For organizations able to reach and support target populations (people with FASDs, families, communities, and relevant professionals) and develop impactful communication and educational resources.
- Component C: For entities with the capacity to provide informatics and technical support to surveillance activities, ensuring standardized data collection and quality assurance.
The overarching goal is to translate high-quality surveillance data into prevention strategies, referral pathways, and improved health outcomes for mothers and children.
