Description
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services administers this opportunity through the Division of Child and Family Well-Being’s Whole Child Health Section, with funding from HRSA. It supports local agencies implementing or expanding evidence-based home-visiting programs with model fidelity for pregnant women and families with children ages 0–5 in high-need communities.
Funding supports targeted, intensive, voluntary home visits that assess family needs, provide tailored education, and connect families with community resources. The program seeks improvements in maternal and child health, injury and maltreatment prevention, school readiness, crime and domestic violence reduction, economic self-sufficiency, and service coordination. North Carolina’s approach combines expansion of existing home-visiting infrastructure with new initiatives in communities not currently served by MIECHV-funded sites.
