Run by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), this personal fellowship supports early-career researchers and technical professionals seeking to develop, expand or establish a high-quality research programme. The majority of research novelty must lie within EPSRC’s mathematical sciences remit. Interdisciplinary proposals can develop novel mathematical or statistical tools, including new combinations of existing techniques, but cannot simply apply mature or well-established methodologies.

The fellowship combines discovery-led research with a flexible development programme tailored to the applicant’s career ambitions and research needs. It aims to accelerate career progression through additional skills, experience, mentoring and host organisation support. Fellowships may also include community engagement, advocacy, research leadership and activities that improve the research environment.
