Description
This grant, administered by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and supported by the Mary Dolciani Fund, provides funding for professional development activities aimed at improving the competence of classroom teachers in grades 6–8 mathematics. The primary goal is to enhance teachers’ mathematical knowledge and instructional skills, with a clear focus on positive impacts for student learning. Projects may include workshops, courses, conferences, or other structured professional growth opportunities. While proposals that incorporate technology for student learning are encouraged, the grant does not fund technology purchases directly.
Applicants must submit a detailed professional development plan, including goals, objectives, a timeline, assessment methods for professional growth, and a budget that prioritizes development activities. Awardees are expected to complete all project activities between June 1 and May 31 of the following year and submit a final report detailing outcomes and expenditures.
