    Description

The G. Harold & Leila Y. Mathers Foundation supports basic life-sciences research with the potential to transform human health. Its interests include immunology, the microbiome, structural biology, cellular physiology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and neuroscience. Projects must have defined scientific aims and proof-of-concept evidence or validation, which may include preliminary findings or published work.

The program supports investigators’ own projects and collaborative research through three-year awards. It seeks novel research with translational potential that would not be suitable for federal support. Transformative potential is a selection factor, and projects currently or previously supported by federal funds may receive lower priority. Formal proposals are accepted only after an LOI has been approved.
