This Fulbright U.S. Scholar award enables scholars to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in mechanical, naval, or telecommunications engineering at the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (CUD), part of the Spanish Naval Academy and affiliated with the Universidad de Vigo in Galicia, Spain. The scholar will co-teach one or two courses in English alongside local faculty, engaging with midshipmen preparing for careers as Spanish Navy officers. The grant may be fully teaching-focused or combine teaching and research (typically 70% teaching, 30% research). Research activities are encouraged in fields relevant to the Spanish Navy and Ministry of Defense, such as data analytics, AI, naval engineering, energy efficiency, and more. Scholars are also invited to participate in seminars, co-advise student projects, and foster academic collaboration. The CUD emphasizes academic excellence, military values, and English-language instruction in a culturally rich setting.
