Description
The Dermatology Foundation’s Medical Dermatology Career Development Award supports future intellectual leaders, educators, and clinical scholars addressing severe dermatologic disease. It fosters the careers of young dermatologists who will become role models and mentors for physicians diagnosing and treating complex skin disease. The award is designed for individuals pursuing patient-oriented academic research whose interests are not a good fit within the NIH K-23/24 or K08 mechanisms.
Applicants select an area in which they intend to become experts and explain how mentorship will help them acquire that expertise. Projects may involve hypothesis-driven research or systematic analysis of natural history, treatment responses, or outcomes of complex, severe disease. Previously supported work includes disease-burden measures, biomarkers, resistant cutaneous lupus, dermatologic treatment toxicities, and psoriasis-associated sleep disturbance and cardiometabolic comorbidities.
