The Ruth K. Broad Biomedical Research Foundation provides this fellowship to promote learning and research in the neurosciences among Duke University School of Medicine students. It supports a dedicated 12-month period of full-time biomedical research training during the third year of the MD degree program.
Projects must involve laboratory-based research relevant to neurodegenerative disease. Eligible approaches include basic research, translational research, and biomedical engineering. Student projects are considered on their merit, regardless of whether the principal investigator holds a primary appointment in a basic science department or has an MD or PhD. Research may take place at Duke or, with the required approvals, at another qualifying academic institution in the United States.
