Description
The Medical Research Council (MRC) / Fight for Sight Clinical Research Training Fellowship offers scientific training to clinicians pursuing research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease. Jointly funded by the two organisations and administered by MRC, it supports registered healthcare professionals undertaking a PhD or reacquiring research skills. The fellowship connects clinical practice in ophthalmology with research training.
Three-year support enables fellows to develop or renew their research skills while retaining some clinical activity. Fellows may undertake up to two clinical sessions a week and spend up to six hours a week on other commitments, with the latter allowance pro-rated for part-time fellows. Research training remains the central purpose of the award.
