The Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation supports highly innovative and groundbreaking medical research from top-tier institutions. The program encompasses both basic biological research and applied research, seeking studies with the potential to make a substantial impact on scientific knowledge and human health.
Proposals should be distinctive in their ideas, novel in their approaches, and willing to question the prevailing paradigm. A scientific advisory committee reviews proposals, with originality and the potential significance of the work central to the program’s purpose. The Foundation gives priority to institutions with long-standing relationships with it, preferably in Texas, and prefers studies selected through an internal institutional competition.
