Description
The Medical Retina Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is a one-year, full-time clinical fellowship designed for ophthalmologists seeking advanced training in the diagnosis and management of a wide spectrum of medical retinal diseases. Fellows gain direct, hands-on experience with common and rare retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, posterior segment tumors, uveitis, and retinal degenerations.
The program emphasizes procedural skills such as intravitreal injections, laser photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy, and cryotherapy, as well as advanced imaging interpretation (OCT, fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, ultrasonography, microperimetry, and electrodiagnostic studies). Fellows are also encouraged to participate in clinical, translational, and epidemiological research, and benefit from mentorship, didactic training, and opportunities to teach.
