Description
The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine’s Medical Student Educators Development Institute (MSEDI) is a 12-month fellowship for faculty who educate medical students. It is particularly suited to educators seeking to advance into medical student education leadership. Through training, mentoring, and peer relationships, fellows develop skills in scholarship, leadership, and curriculum development within undergraduate medical education.
The curriculum addresses directing family medicine courses, evaluating students, supporting challenging learners, delivering effective feedback, advising students about careers, and recruiting and maintaining preceptor networks. It also addresses work-life balance as a teacher and physician. The fellowship combines in-person sessions, virtual group meetings, and individual mentoring. Fellows complete a scholarly project and present it at the STFM Conference on Medical Student Education.
