    Description

The Medical Toxicology Foundation (MTF), the philanthropic arm of the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT), supports research evaluating the economic and clinical benefits of medical toxicology services. The program seeks evidence that helps communicate the value of these services to leaders in hospitals, healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and governments. Its focus is direct patient care through inpatient bedside evaluation, outpatient visits, and telemedicine consultations.

Funded studies should measure the impact of medical toxicology services using appropriate clinical and/or economic metrics. Relevant services include evaluation and management of acute and chronic poisonings, overdoses, adverse drug reactions, envenomations, withdrawal syndromes, and substance use disorders. Outcomes may address patient health, costs or savings, care processes, resource utilization, or safety. The award is not intended to evaluate interventions or services conducted by a Poison Center.
