--- ## Description The Samuel H. Kress Fellowships, administered by the Medici Archive Project with the support of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, provide graduate and pre-doctoral students specializing in art and architectural history the opportunity to conduct original archival research in Florence and Tuscany. Fellows gain hands-on experience with primary sources at the Archivio di Stato and other collections, receive scholarly guidance from Medici Archive Project staff, present research at MAP-sponsored events, and participate in the Paleography and Archival Studies Seminar. The program is designed to foster professional development and international scholarly networking. --- ## Due Dates - June 2026 (anticipated/projected full application deadline) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - Each fellowship provides a stipend of $8,000 for a three-month, uninterrupted research residency in Florence. - Fellows are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. --- ## Eligibility - Open to graduate and pre-doctoral students specializing in art and/or architectural history. - Applicants must either: - Hold American citizenship, **or** - Be enrolled in a graduate program at a university in the United States. - Fellowship is intended for on-site archival research in Florence and Tuscany. - Applicants may apply for only one MAP fellowship at a time. --- ## Application Process - No application form is required. - Submit the following materials as a **single PDF** via email to [education@medici.org](mailto:education@medici.org): 1. Cover letter specifying preferred months for the fellowship. 2. Short essay (max 2 pages) explaining how the project will benefit from archival research. 3. Curriculum vitae. 4. Name and email address of a scholar (preferably your supervisor) who can comment on your qualifications and research proposal. **Do not include letters of recommendation.** - Subject line should specify: "SAMUEL H.
