Summary: Financial assistance for international graduate students beginning biomedical research programs and adjusting to life in a new country, with preference for toxicology students.
Key Information: Applicants must move to another country for graduate study and hold SOT student membership or have a membership application pending.
The Society of Toxicology (SOT) offers the Mehendale Welcome Award to help international graduate students newly accepted into biomedical scientific research programs adjust to a new country. Preference is given to students enrolling in toxicology programs. The award supports the transition into graduate study abroad rather than a particular research project or scientific method.
The award is supported by the Rekha and Harihara Mehendale Welcome Award Fund for International Graduate Students, an endowment established with SOT. It carries forward the Mehendales’ legacy of offering students a “home away from home.” SOT’s Education and Experiential Opportunities Committee determines the number of awards and selects recipients each year.
